Womxnhouse Detroit – The Womxn’s experience Echos the landmark feminist art project Womanhouse, led by Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro in 1972, A diverse array of 11 artists will collaborate to elevate and celebrate contemporary female perspectives. Womxnhouse Detroit offers a unique view into feminist art answering the question, What is the Womxn experience?
The inaugural Womxnhouse exhibition is the catalyst for the Womxnhouse Detroit artists and curatorial residency located in the childhood home of Norwest Gallery’s founder Asia Hamilton. Proceeds from the exhibition will fund the residency and the initiative to bring arts and culture to Detroit neighborhoods.
