Writing About Smell Part 2: Form, with John Biebel (online)

Description

This class takes place on Zoom and will be recorded. We will share the video for this class with registered participants for 3 days after it takes place.

Building from some of the techniques first explored in Writing About Smell Part 1, John Biebel returns with a class that explores another key component of writing: Form.

What is the form that the written word should take? What does the length of a piece of writing say about a topic that we are discussing? Is there inherent merit in short, well-crafted writing? Designed for the writer who has begun some exploration with creative writing about smell, we will look at how form impacts the value of our words, and how to use form to put the proper emphasis on outcomes. Some of the specific topics we'll cover: Understanding our audience, exploring written forms, using forms across different media platforms, moving between the verbal and the written word. Let's take our creativity and guide it into the most effective channels to inspire.

Note: This class will explore how we can apply creative approaches to writing to specific output and forms. We recommend taking John's Writing About Scent Part 1 Class before you take this class, but if you have some experience writing about scent, the part one is not required.

This is an online class. The Zoom link will be sent by email 24 hours before the class.
