God is always speaking, always inviting us to co-create alongside the Holy Spirit to birth new things into the Earth.

But sometimes, it's HARD. Maybe...

  • You KNOW that God is inviting you to create something: a book, a blog, a podcast, a painting, but you haven’t made as much headway as you’d like?

  • You’re really busy, or really scared, or BOTH. Maybe you don’t know where to start or perhaps feel a bit overwhelmed at the idea of actually creating the thing?

  • You feel that trying to muster up the motivation, courage, and time to write is challenging; and trying to do it ALONE is especially challenging!

Writing With God provides the motivation, inspiration, and time you need to ACTUALLY WRITE. Plus you get to do it IN COMMUNITY with other writers!

This writing retreat is unique because it gives you the opportunity to Write WITH God. The virtual get-away provides inspirational messages, hours of writing space, PLUS time to receive prayer over your creative project! (Can I get an AMEN?!)

It's open to new writers, established writers, artists, and ANYONE who wants to create something!

Note: The retreat content is presented from a Christian perspective, but is open to all!

Meet Chanté Griffin

Chanté Griffin is a writer and advocate based in Los Angeles whose socially conscious work centers the intersection of race, culture, and faith. She’s a contributing writer for The Washington Post, Faithfully Magazine, and L.A. Parent Magazine. Chanté is also a former contributor for The Root, LA Weekly and The Christian Science Monitor.

Chanté co-leads Spirit & Scribe, an online workshop that explores the intersection of writing craft and spiritual formation, and she serves at her church, Vision Christian Fellowship, as a prayer minister. In her free time, she enjoys raking up late fees at her local public library, pretending she’s a cast member on Dancing with the Stars, and living her best Black life.

Meet Velynn Brown

Velynn is a nationally recognized facilitator, speaker, and consultant specializing in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Restorative Justice practices, and BI-POC Affinity Healing work. Quarterly blogger at The Mudroom and local Pacific Northwest spoken-word artist, Velynn loves the form, rhythm and power of words. Velynn’s activism is steeped in preserving and cultivating the voice, presence and history of Vanport descendants and Blacks in Oregon experiencing generational waves of gentrification. Recent projects have included Vanport Mosaic, Jumptown, United Shades of America and her current job at the Black Parent Initiative.

Velynn loves the smell of fresh rain, Gospel music, and cooking big meals in her kitchen with family and friends. By day she is Chief Operations and Program Director of the Black Parent Initiative — by night she is an aspiring author. When Velynn is not being her husband's girlfriend, Mommy and Gigi to her three young adult children and granddaughter, you will find her sketching poems on napkins, inching towards her upcoming memoir, and dreaming of a more equitable and just world.
