Description

ADOT's current tentative five year program 2023-2027 with IIJA (BIL) components included. ADOT has a tentative five year program that will incorporate the State funding which has increased due to an active state economy and the additional funding attributed by the IIJA (BIL) federal appropriations. There are several new programs as well as new criteria for existing programs that will be incorporated into both our formula funding and potential discretionary funding.

About Gregory D. Byres, P.E.

Gregory Byres serves as the State Engineer for the Arizona Department of Transportation. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, after which he worked as a consulting engineer on transportation, airport and utility projects for ten years then went back to school which included course studies in Geotechnical Engineering at University of Missouri – Rolla and worked as a geotechnical / materials engineering consultant for ten years. He started his own engineering consulting firm which provided design services for transportation, airports, utilities and development projects for both private and public sectors, for about twelve years. After selling the firm, he moved to Arizona and began working for the Arizona Department of Transportation as a senior project manager, then on to the State Roadway Engineer, the Director of Multimodal Planning Division, and currently as Deputy Director/State Engineer.
