Description

Yoga: A Space to Heal - an inclusive, empowering space for those of marginalized identities to heal and explore the teachings of authentic, decolonized, decolonized Yoga.

This class will be taught by Olivia Henry, a certified yoga instructor studying in the College. They completed their a 40 hour teaching certificate with Spiritual Essence Yoga, a yoga studio and practice created by a Black woman (Dana A. Smith). Henry received their 200 hour yoga teacher certification (RYT) with Yoga Union Bali in the summer of 2022. They works to integrate diasporic practices of communal healing, drawing upon a myriad of healing techniques to encourage introspection in community through somatic connection. Centering identity, this practice offers individuals an opportunity to listen and connect with their bodies, particularly bodies and identities that the state has deemed non-normative. This practice is designed for any and all shapes and sizes, with modifications and accommodations offered throughout. Please contact @ojh8@georgetown.edu with any questions.
